It Pays to Stick to Your Plan

Hubert Senters here. I want to show you the conclusion of trailing that stop- loss and give you a little bit of a pointer on not going for the dead high and the dead low just because it’s hard. Anyway, the conclusion of the 10 year note trade that I was in I was able to profit take home not unrealized profit but real ass profit of $1046.88. Now, as far as managing the trade I did just fine with it. It could’ve been a little bit better. It could’ve been a lot worse. But when I’m walking through this here’s what I want you to kind of get from this information that I’m trying to share with you. This is a hard lesson to learn. I’ve been trading for 25 plus years now and I always get a kick out of people trying to get the dead highs and the dead lows. Just because it’s really hard. I’m not saying it’s impossible. Like I said I’ve been trading for over 25 years. I might have done it like four to six times in my life and it probably wouldn’t skills or probably look. So in this example, I was not able to short the dead highs and then also cover at the dead lows. But I was able to get the middle out of this trade so we want to meet in the middle so not in this case. I use a little different kind of little drawing tool here. I was able to short around here and then I was able to cover around here so it’s not too bad right. I mean I could’ve done slightly better but I could have done a lot worse. And the lesson is stick to your plan and try to do your thing. I know there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell to me shorten the dead highs here and then covering at the dead lows here. You might be able to do it just sometimes or maybe you’re better than me and some of you probably are. It’s just a losing proposition for me so what I try to do is I try to stay on the right side when the clouds here and then when it starts crossing up here I know it’s probably going here so I save myself from going to here and here.
