I’m a reversal trader and trade the reversals both as trend and counter trend trades. I believe in Wyckoff’s approach, and my favorite trades are springs and upthrusts, which are obviously counter trade reversals catching the start of new up or down trends. Once a new trend is established, I will enter on the reversal of pullbacks as either 1st or subsequnet HL’s or 1st or subsequent LH’s. I will never trade a breakout unless it is a reversal entry, i.e. the reversal of the pullback from the breakout.

I like your strategy and your approach.

I agree with you traders that buy a lot of
Breakouts dont do well over time.

I trade both trend and countertrend. I use alot of Elliott Wave and try to trade the C wave of the counter trend.

I have been a successful trend trader since 1972.

The last 5 years have been OK, but it was time for me to broaden my outlook.

I do not always follow the counter-trend moves that you have defined so well, but it is extremely useful to be aware of where the attacks will be coming from.

I even occassionally get out of the way.

Trend trader for sure. However those trends can be very short term in sideways markets. For example, I prefer confirmation at support or resistance, rather than blindly execute at pivot points. Cheers!

I am more of a counter trend trader. I try to hit the more significant tops and bottoms and trade against the last trend. But I will also buy pullbacks and retraces some of the time but for the most part I like to buy the 9:30 reversal in the SPY, QQQ, and DIA.

fiercely independent, i usually dont trust a trend. especially an up trend. i’ll stalk the turn around and bet it lower by instinct. trying hard to better develop a comfort level with trends, grrr.
flashing through the charts a few times a day, potential reversals are what catch my eye.

thanks Hubert for that and also Stan Rocys for his post. Sounds like i could use to study this Wyckoff methodology. i always thought what i “see” was not definable, but maybe it’s a science/art unto itself. any study tips into Wyckoff?

Trading is both an art and a science.
I think the longer I do it it’s more art.

But you have to have the science to back it all up.

As far as Wyckoff methodology I have not studied it much.
I sure there is ton of books and course on it.

          hope it helps

Love that video, reminds of the good week we had in Austin with you guys during the mentorship.

I tend to see counter trend trades more than trend trades but I have set-ups for both.
