Do You Have a Rule Like This?

Hubert Senters here. Hopefully, you have a rule like this and it will help you trade better if you don’t have a rule like this. And I really don’t care what your trading rules are. But you need to have some rules. Don’t just trade by the seat of your pants. It’s not going to end well. That’s not going to do your account any favors at all so what I’d like to do and hopefully you can use something like this. You don’t have to be as strict as I am on this stuff. But what I like to do is I like to have a three strike rule and all that means is I can’t. I’m not allowed to in an optimal situation. I’m not allowed according to my rule book of my trading plan. I’m not allowed to have three consecutive losses in a row within 24 hours per market. So what’s that mean? Let’s just say I was trading Apple, AAPL. And I will say a check is a win and an X is a loss. If I had the first win and then a loss and then a loss and then a loss I would be done trading Apple for the day. Now, let’s say I’m going to trade bonds and then I had a win, a loss, a win, a loss, a win, a loss. I keep that up all day long. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to do that. But what I’m looking for is if I have three consecutive losses in the day that’s the max I’m allowed to do on that one market so in this case scenario, I couldn’t trade Apple anymore and I have to go to some other market and trade that market so if you don’t have a rule like that what this does is it prevents you from having a little itty bitty loss on the day like this and it keeps you from digging a big old deep hole to China that you cannot recover from.
